Could AI actually wipe out humanity?

Jacob Coxon, who worked on pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic, has resigned from Anthropic over what he calls an irresponsible race toward self-improving superintelligence. He says AI researchers themselves believe there is a real possibility of catastrophic outcomes within the decade. If AI can eventually improve its own capabilities faster than humans can understand or control them, the stakes go far beyond jobs, productivity or the next big tech product.
